Below are just a few of the many positive Testimonials our program and center has received. In no way are the letters meant to suggest outcomes as outcome varies for each participant. Please call us if you have any questions.
To Whom it May Concern,
I would like to take this opportunity to recommend the Children's Anger Management Program for any students who need assistance coping with anger and frustration. Many of the students here at Joshua School have had the privilege of attending the program and have shown long lasting and significant improvement.
Ms. Laurie Ross, the coordinator of the program, has developed a curriculum and activities, which benefit the whole family. On many occasions, parents have commented about how the program has positively impacted their family life.
This is a program that truly works!
Sincerely,
M. Gross

Letter of Recommendation for Laurie Ross, LCSW and Children's Anger Management Program (CAMP)
As the principal of Mariposa Elementary School, I have worked with Laurie Ross for 7 Years. Laurie has worked with the families of Mariposa and surrounding schools, by providing family counseling and anger management training. Because she offers a Solution-Focused approach, the parents and the children are immediately comfortable with both counseling and a anger management classes. In addition, the families reach their hoped for goals, because the approach empowers them to succeed.
The following are two examples of difficult cases, in which Laurie stepped in and made a difference:
The first situation involved a kindergarten child, who had stopped coming to school. It was presumed that the precipitating situation, of the child smashing his finger in the bathroom door, had caused the child to avoid school. The school psychologist had met with the child, the mother had begged and argued with the child, the teacher had tried reasoning with the child, and through her solution-focused approach, she came to find that another reason was causing the problem. Laurie leaned that the child's mother had recently stopped walking him to school and he just wanted his mom to return to walking with him. Mother agreed, and the child immediately resumed attending school.
The second situation involved a serious car accident, in which 2 students had died. Laurie and Intern Jetta Zellner, came to the school and provided a critical incident debriefing for the student's peers. Their training in critical incident stress management allowed them to step in at a moment's notice and assist an entire classroom of grieving children.
Besides these two specific situations, Laurie and CAMP have facilitated change in innumerable families, in the Lancaster School District, as well as surrounding school districts in our area. These families have worked through difficult situations in their lives, to move on to healthier, more productive lives.
Finally, Laurie has been actively involved with the Early Mental Health Initiative (EMHI), in the local school districts, as well. Over the years, she has trained para-professionals, teachers, psychologists, and other staff, in areas of child development, abuse, relationships, mental illness, etc. She has been an important part of our EMHI team.
Our staff and our families have appreciated the help that Laurie has provided over the years, and I have personally seen the results of Laurie's work. Because of this, I highly recommend Laurie and CAMP, as she and the program expand into the Ventura area. We will miss her services, but congratulate the Ventura area schools on being the new recipients of her services.
Sincerely,
Sheldon Epstein,
Principal

To Whom It May Concern,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of reference for the Advanced Solutions program run by Jetta Zellner and Laurie Ross.
Briggs School District recently hired the Advanced Solutions group to run 10 counseling sessions for 10 students and their parents. The goal was to teach the students to make better positive decisions in their daily lives. I must say, I was somewhat skeptical in the "only focus on the positive" idea. I wished Laurie and Jetta much luck in getting the students to change their behaviors AND convince the parents that this approach does produce results.
After about 3 sessions, the students were coming up to me and telling me about the program. They were very eager to explain their "ladder number" and seemed so happy to be a part of the program. I did see changes in their overall behavior both in the classroom, with peers on the playground, and at home as told to me (joyfully) by their parents!
Briggs School District was so impressed with the first group results that we hired Advanced Solutions for a second group which started just last week with much success and buy in.
I highly recommend the Advanced Solutions Family Counseling sessions if you are interested in bringing positive change to your school.
Sincerely,
Deborah Cuevas

Good Morning, Laurie and Jetta,
I wanted to thank you both for the awesome job you've done. Not only were you able to teach my son but you've taught me a great deal as well. I truly am grateful for your time, effort, dedication and patience that you've given. Your time was much appreciated and you may rest assure it was not in vain. If I wouldn't have agreed to this program I would've never known that my old way of thinking was making parenting more difficult than it really was. I would've never known that in order to encourage my son I had to focus on ALL of the great things my son did throughout the day. My son is much more confident and respectful person. He went from receiving a pink slip every day to only 1 pink slip in a 9 week period. In the first two weeks of counseling he received student of the month and received an award for most improved in History. He went from being tardy every day to being tardy 2 times in 9 weeks.
Laurie and Jetta, you will always be a part of our family!
Regarding the mentoring program, my son is interested in helping out. So, as soon as you know the dates and times you can count him in.
Sincerely,
Happy Mom
